Elizabeth was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Jenkinson of Leigh, Staffordshire. Joseph was a Wheelwright. Elizabeth's first marriage was to William Phillips in 1849 and they had two daughters Elizabeth 1851,and Ellen 1854. William died in 1855 aged 49. When Elizabeth married John Johnson in 1857 she was an Innkeeper from Blythe Marsh,nr Dilhorne, Staffordshire.
